The ACME Eagle Hand Soap Radio Hour (72)

Another page from the ACME Catalog -

Before our feature presentation, ACME would like to start the evening with a Daffy Duck/ Porky Pig/ Martin the Martian Looney Tunes cartoon, the 1953 Chuck Jones classic, Duck Dodgers In The 24 1/2th Century:

When Richard Dreyfuss' character in the film Close Encounters of the Third Kind wakes up, after trying all night to make contact with the aliens, his daughter is watching Duck Dodgers.

Raidohead's third studio album (which would later be recognized as the foundation of their distinct style,) OK Computer was released in England on this date in 1997. Two weeks after the release of the album, the band played a headlining set at Glastonbury festival on a very rainy Saturday evening, June 28th 1997. Their performance featured many of the tracks from the new album, including Paranoid Android, Karma Police and No Surprises, as well as earlier songs such as The Bends. Please join The ACME Eagle Hand Soap Radio Hour in listening to this rare re-assembly of this legendary concert.

This concert marked a pivotal moment in their history as a band, and is remembered as one of the greatest Radiohead performances ever. The concert was marked by many technical glitches, including non-working monitors, which prevented band members from hearing each other and blinding lights, preventing them from seeing their audience. Things apparently were so bad that Thom Yorke wanted to walk off midway through the set, and it was only his bandmates encouragement song-by-song that convinced Yorke to stay.

Didn't get enough of Radiohead this evening, here is the amazing re-imagining of OK Computer by Easy Star All-Star (the same folks who brought you Dub Side of the Moon.)

Take the trip with them - you'll enjoy the ride.
