Thank you for joining us today.
Before our feature presentation, ACME would like to start the evening with another Bugs Bunny Looney Tunes cartoon, the 1942 Bob Clampett directed, The Wabbit Who Came To Dinner, (This short is one of several pre-August 1948 WB cartoon shorts that lapsed into the public domain due to United Artists failing to renew the copyright in time.):
This is the first cartoon where Bugs cross-dresses; at one scene Bugs disguises as a woman in lingerie, when entering one of the rooms in Elmer's house, and Bugs (in drag) screams when Elmer opens, causing Elmer to close the door, only to realize that he has been tricked
The ACME Eagle Hand Soap Radio Hour would like to celebrate the anniversary the passing of Mary Isobel Catherine Bernadette O'Brien OBE, an inductee of both the US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the UK Music Hall of Fame, from breast cancer on this date in 1999. Internationally acclaimed, Dusty Springfield has been recognized as one of the most successful British female pop-stars of all times. Today we would like to look about at the career and life of Ms. Springfield by asking you to sit back (quick, find the most comfortable seat on the sofa,) get a snack and a beverage and join The ACME Eagle Hand Soap Radio Hour in watching this 2009 documentary - Just Dusty - The Real Dustry Springfield.
A little know fact is that Dusty is credited with getting Led Zeppelin signed to Atlantic Records. Ironically, she never heard them play, but her former bass player John Paul Jones was in Zeppelin and it was because of her say so that the band was signed to the label.
