Dr. Caligari's cabinet is now so crammed that he had to stow stuff in the Cupboard. Time may wound all heels but once in a while you need a cup of tea.

The ACME Eagle Hand Soap Radio Hour (114)
Thank you for joining us today.
Before our feature presentation, ACME would like to start the evening with another Bugs Bunny Looney Tunes cartoon, the 1942 Friz Freleng directed, Fresh Hare, (Bunkies, there is a lot going on with this title. Besides being the fifth and final appearance of the fat Elmer Fudd, this short is one of several pre-August 1948 WB cartoon shorts that lapsed into the public domain due to United Artists failing to renew the copyright in time. While is is not one of the infamous 'Censored 11' Looney Tunes titles, the ending of this cartoon where Bugs proclaims his last wish in a chorus of "I Wish I Were in Dixie", which is followed by Bugs, Elmer Fudd and the Mounties all in blackface singing "Camptown Races" has been edited on nearly every American airing, including versions shown on the Ted Turner-owned networks (Cartoon Network, Boomerang, TBS, and TNT.):
Bugs is wanted for a series of crimes he had committed in this cartoon (as corrected here for Elmer's rounded-l-and-r speech):
1.) Resisting an officer
2.) Assault and battery
3.) Trespassing
4.) Disturbing the peace
5.) Miscellaneous misdemeanors
6.) Public nuisance
7.) Traffic violations
8.) Going through a boulevard stop
9.) Jaywalking
10.) Triple parking
11.) Conduct unbecoming to a rabbit
The ACME Eagle Hand Soap Radio Hour would like to celebrate the birthday of Paul Reiser, comedian, actor, writer, and musician, born on this date in 1956. Best known as Paul Buchman in Mad About You and Dr. Sam Owens in Stranger Things, Paul also appeared in the hysterically scatological documentary film, The Aristocrats. Kids, check with your folks if you are allowed to watch this truly filthy film, then please, get a snack and a beverage, sit back (quick, find the most comfortable seat on the sofa,) and join The ACME Eagle Hand Soap Radio Hour in watching this funny flick - The Aristocrats:
This joke has been used by comedians for years as a mental stretching exercise. They would tell the joke to each other as a warm up for their acts. While the setup and punchline remain the same throughout, the middle section, describing the actual family act, is always varied to get the juices going by throwing in the most they can and keeping it funny. There are stories of parties where performers will jam and keep it going for almost an hour.

The ACME Eagle Hand Soap Radio Hour (113)
Thank you for joining us today.
Before our feature presentation, ACME would like to start the evening with another Bugs Bunny Looney Tunes cartoon from 1942, the Bob Clampett directed, Bugs Bunny Gets The Boid, (it's the first appearance of Beaky Buzzard in a Warner Bros. short.):
The part where Bugs and Killer are temporarily fooled into thinking that the bones are theirs is a reference to a Harold Lloyd film, The Freshman.
41 years ago yesterday, the seminal mockumentary about The Pre-Fab Four The Rutles: All You Need Is Cash made its American debut as a television special on NBC, earning the lowest ratings of any prime-time television show airing on network television that week. The ACME Eagle Hand Soap Radio Hour would like to commemorate the anniversary of the special by asking you to watch this hysterical special today. So get your snacks together, find the most comfortable place on the couch (because you are going to be rolling around,) and enjoy this evening's entertainment. (I won't suggest the you Smoke 'em if you got 'em - that is between you and your Maker.)
Created by Eric Idle and Neil Innes, and using the then-current documentary The Compleat Beatles as a template, Idle and Innes painstakingly created a faux history of The Rutles while also recording an album’s worth of the band’s biggest hits to use as the soundtrack to the program. To make All You Need Is Cash come across as realistic as possible, they also secured a few real rock stars to contribute to the proceedings, with some playing themselves (Mick Jagger and Paul Simon) and others playing bit parts within the course of the mockumentary (George Harrison and Ron Wood). Additionally, the comedic material was aided by the participation of big-time funny folk like Michael Palin, John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd, Gilda Radner, and Bill Murray.
The Rutles originally began as a sketch on Eric Idle's UK show Rutland Weekend Television, showing the band (with Idle as Harrison) playing a slower version I Must Be in Love in their movie A Hard Day's Rut.
Lorne Michaels aired the clip on Saturday Night Live when Eric Idle hosted, which led to a deal for the TV special.

The ACME Eagle Hand Soap Radio Hour (112)
Thank you for joining us today.
Before our feature presentation, ACME would like to start the evening with another Bugs Bunny Looney Tunes cartoon from 1942, the Chuck Jones directed, Hold the Lion, Please, (this is one of a handful of Bugs Bunny shorts that do not feature the words Bugs, Bunny, Rabbit/Wabbit, or Hare in the title..):
This is the only time Bugs is married. Mrs. Bugs Bunny's higher-pitched voice is similar to Bugs'.
Today is the birthday of one of the most technically inventive directors from Hollywood - Joseph Levitch. Mr Levititch was one of the most famous entertainers of the 20th Century. The ACME Eagle Hand Soap Radio Hour would like to salute Jerry Lewis by asking you to watch one of his most innovative films, The Ladies Man today. So get your snacks together (popcorn especially for Jerry,) find the most comfortable place on the couch (because you are going to be rolling around,) and enjoy this evening's entertainment.
The Ladies Man was filmed on a full-scale replica of a multi-story sorority house, constructed to break way to accommodate camera movement, occupied an entire soundstage on the Paramount backlot. At the time, this was one of the largest interior sets ever built and it was the most expensive set for a family comedy to date. During this production Jerry Lewis attached a small video camera to the side of his 35mm camera, in effect, pioneering the "video assist" system that is standard on just about every feature film today.

The ACME Eagle Hand Soap Radio Hour (111)
Thank you for joining us today.
Before our feature presentation, ACME would like to start the evening with not one but two 'Fat Elmer'/ Bugs Bunny Looney Tunes cartoon, both from 1942, Bob Clampett directed, The Wacky Wabbit, and Any Bonds Today? (another of the infamous 'Censored Eleven' cartoons, due to Bugs appearing in blackface.):
Once again for this cartoon, Elmer was redesigned as a fat man (based on voice actor Arthur Q. Bryan's own physique) in an attempt to make him funnier. The 'Fat Elmer' would only make four more appearances -The Wabbit Who Came to Supper, Wabbit Trouble, Fresh Hare, and Any Bonds Today? - before returning to the slimmer form by which he is better known. This cartoon was the only time, though, that the Fat Elmer also had a red nose. Much like Wabbit Twouble also directed by Bob Clampett the previous year, this cartoon features Bugs as the aggressor provoking Elmer for no apparent reason.
Bob Clampett directed the film, which started production in late November 1941 and was completed eight days after the attack on Pearl Harbor.
On March 9, 1987, U2 release their fifth studio album on this date - The Joshua Tree. It would become their first number one album, producing two number one hits, and win the band their first two Grammy awards. The ACME Eagle Hand Soap Radio Hour would like to celebrate the anniversary is classic album. (The famous tree died of natural causes in 2000, collapsing on the desert floor at an estimated age of 200 years old.) So please sit back (quick, find the most comfortable seat on the sofa,) get a snack and a beverage and join The ACME Eagle Hand Soap Radio Hour in listen to this 1987 materpiece.
The idea of using a Joshua Tree photo came from photographer Anton Corbijn, who suggested a trip through the Mojave Desert to take pictures. Bono liked the name so much it became the album title. Corbijn recounts that Bono consulted a Bible and was taken by how the tree got its name from Mormon settlers who thought its limbs reminded them of a Biblical story of Joshua lifting his hands in prayer.
U2 went on a world-wide promotion of the album, Joshua Tree Tour. The Joshua Tree Tour sold out stadiums around the world, the first time the band had consistently played large arena. Today, the ACME Eagle Hand Soap Radio Hour would like to present the November 18th Los Angeles portion of the tour.
The Joshua Tree and its singles had become huge hits and the band had reached a new height in their popularity. Tickets for shows were often very hard to get, especially on the first American leg when they only played in arenas. This evening concert has the most tickets sales with the gross revenues for their two day event at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum of $2,590,457. -

The ACME Eagle Hand Soap Radio Hour (110)
Thank you for joining us today.
Before our feature presentation, ACME would like to start the evening with another Bugs Bunny Looney Tunes cartoon, the 1942 Bob Clampett directed, The Wabbit Who Came To Dinner, (This short is one of several pre-August 1948 WB cartoon shorts that lapsed into the public domain due to United Artists failing to renew the copyright in time.):
This is the first cartoon where Bugs cross-dresses; at one scene Bugs disguises as a woman in lingerie, when entering one of the rooms in Elmer's house, and Bugs (in drag) screams when Elmer opens, causing Elmer to close the door, only to realize that he has been tricked
The ACME Eagle Hand Soap Radio Hour would like to celebrate the anniversary the passing of Mary Isobel Catherine Bernadette O'Brien OBE, an inductee of both the US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the UK Music Hall of Fame, from breast cancer on this date in 1999. Internationally acclaimed, Dusty Springfield has been recognized as one of the most successful British female pop-stars of all times. Today we would like to look about at the career and life of Ms. Springfield by asking you to sit back (quick, find the most comfortable seat on the sofa,) get a snack and a beverage and join The ACME Eagle Hand Soap Radio Hour in watching this 2009 documentary - Just Dusty - The Real Dustry Springfield.
A little know fact is that Dusty is credited with getting Led Zeppelin signed to Atlantic Records. Ironically, she never heard them play, but her former bass player John Paul Jones was in Zeppelin and it was because of her say so that the band was signed to the label.
