The ACME Eagle Hand Soap Radio Hour (97)

Not found on any page from the ACME Catalog --

Before our feature presentation, ACME would like to start the evening with a reminder of how advertising was done back in the 'olden days'. Here are some sponsorship advertisements from a 1961 episode of The Flintstones:

When The Flintstones first aired, Winston Cigarettes was a presenting sponsor. That might have been because network execs were marketing the show to adults. Remember, Fred and Wilma were one of the first couples to appear in bed, on-screen, during prime time (the show even implied that Barney and Betty had trouble conceiving children, leading to their adoption of Bamm Bamm).

This weekend could be the start of the holiday season for some people (most of the staff of ACME start working on the holidays well before Thanksgiving but after Halloween; we're not insane,) and you may be decorating the house today. Why not put The ACME Eagle Hand Soap Radio Hour on in the background and watch the 1974 stop-motion animated television special, produced by Rankin/Bass, The Year Without a Santa Claus:

The painting hanging in Santa Claus' bedroom is the same one that is put up in the town hall at the end of the earlier Rankin/Bass special, Santa Claus is Comin' to Town. Speaking of which, this is the second Rankin/Bass Christmas special where Mickey Rooney voiced Santa Claus. The first being Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town.

You're never too old to watch

Since today's theme is Holiday Cartoons, The ACME Eagle Hand Soap Radio Hour encourages you to keep watching
