Dr. Caligari's cabinet is now so crammed that he had to stow stuff in the Cupboard. Time may wound all heels but once in a while you need a cup of tea.

ACME Eagle Hand Soap Radio Hour (402)
Thank you for joining us today
Before our feature presentation, ACME would like to start the evening with another Daffy Duck Looney Tunes cartoon, the 1966 A Squeak in the Deep, {co-starring Speedy Gonzales) directed by Robert McKimson.
By the time of this short, Daffy was known for being a greedy loco duck rather than just a daffy loony character.
Before the start of our feature presentation, the staff of The ACME Eagle Hand Soap Radio Hour love the cantankerous comedy of Lewis Black:
All of our days are better listening to at least one rant by Lewis.
We've picked another entry from the excellent reference book, 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die by Steven Jay Schneider. Today's film is the controversial 1971 drama, A Clockwork Orange , directed by Stanley Kubrick, based on the dystopian Anthony Burgess novel, and starring Malcolm McDowell, Patrick Magee, Adrienne Corri, Miriam Karlin, Godfrey Quigley, Anthony Sharp, and Warren Clarke. When the novel was published in 1959, it was received to a mixture of acclaim and notoriety and was long believed unfilmable. The film was met with very diverse critical reviews and after it was cited as having inspired copycat acts of violence, the film was withdrawn from British cinemas at Kubrick's request, and it was also banned in several other countries. A Clockwork Orange is now considered a classic and is often found on greatest films list. (Bunkies, the film is still shocking with it's violent content - be forewarned.) I'm actually a little surprised that I found a version of the film online. So push away from the table, get comfortable and join us in watching A Clockwork Orange.
Korova Milk Bar is named after the Russian word for cow. Moloko (written on the wall) means milk. The bar's sculptures were based on the work of sculptor Allen Jones. Stanley Kubrick had the milk dispensers emptied, washed and refilled every hour, as the milk curdled under the studio lights. The chairs in the bar were the reupholstered and recycled chairs from the space station in Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey.

ACME Eagle Hand Soap Radio Hour (401)
Thank you for joining us today
Before our feature presentation, ACME would like to start the evening with another Daffy Duck Merrie Melodies cartoon, the 1966 Snow Excuse, {co-starring Speedy Gonzales) directed by Robert McKimson.
When Speedy attempts to break into Daffy's cabin and fails, he is holding the head of the Tasmanian Devil.
Before the start of our feature presentation, the staff of The ACME Eagle Hand Soap Radio Hour saw another new Puddle's Pity Party video:
We always find it a perfect day when Puddle drops another video
We've picked another entry from the excellent reference book, 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die by Steven Jay Schneider. Today's film is the 1970 documentary, Woodstock: 3 Days of Peace & Music , directed by Michael Wadleigh, (the editors on the film included Thelma Schoonmaker, Martin Scorsese, and Wadleigh himself,) and the performers were just about every major act form the late 1960's. In August 1969 — against the backdrop of a nation divided over sexual politics, civil rights, and the Vietnam War — half a million people converged on a small dairy farm in upstate New York to hear Jimi Hendrix, The Grateful Dead, The Who, Janis Joplin, and other music icons in a concert billed as “3 Days of Peace and Music.” The documentary of the event was an overwhelming commercial success and received critical acclaim from just about every critic upon release. The film is said to be a perfect window in the period. The version we are watching today is the 1994 director's cut, which added 18 addition performances not originally seen in the released version. So please, get yourself comfortable, roll yourself a fat one and join us in watching Woodstock: 3 Days of Peace & Music.
When the promoters were negotiating to get Grateful Dead to perform at the festival, Bill Graham, who was managing the band at the time, insisted that the promoters include one of two other acts he managed on the bill. Michael Lang, one of the concert promoters, listened to recordings of both bands and liked them so much that he couldn't decide which one to put on the bill and wound up flipping a coin; the winner would be booked. The losing band was It's a Beautiful Day. The band that won the flip was Santana, which would achieve superstardom on the basis of their appearances at both the festival and in the movie.

ACME Eagle Hand Soap Radio Hour (400)
Thank you for joining us today
Before our feature presentation, ACME would like to start the evening with another Daffy Duck Looney Tunes cartoon, the 1966 A-Haunting We Will Go, {co-starring Speedy Gonzales) directed by Robert McKimson.
This is the last Looney Tunes short featuring Witch Hazel, as well as the last Looney Tunes short with June Foray's voice acting in the Golden Age of American Animation.
Before the start of our feature presentation, the staff of The ACME Eagle Hand Soap Radio Hour saw a Monty Python special that we've never seen before:
If you have the time, look up the Python special day that the BBC did that covered this whole day,
We've picked another entry from the excellent reference book, 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die by Steven Jay Schneider. Today's film is the 1970 drame, Zabriskie Point, directed by Michelangelo Antonioni, and starring Mark Frechette, Daria Halprin, and Rod Taylor. The film was an overwhelming commercial failure, and was panned by most critics upon release. Zabriskie Point at last garnered some critical praise, mostly for the stark beauty of its cinematography and innovative use of music in the soundtrack. We must say this is one film that we're not really sure why it's on the list but all means you should watch it if you haven't seen it before. So push away from the table, get comfortable and join us in watching Zabriskie Point.
Michelangelo Antonioni's assistant and casting director, Sally Dennison, first spotted Mark Frechette having an argument with a woman at a bus stop in Los Angeles. Frechette was not an actor but a carpenter at the time so when Dennison brought him to Antonioni's attention, she told him "He's twenty and he hates". Antonioni cast him on the spot.

ACME Eagle Hand Soap Radio Hour Today (399)
Thank you for joining us today
Before our feature presentation, ACME would like to start the evening with another Daffy Duck Looney Tunes cartoon, the 1966 Daffy Rents, {co-starring Speedy Gonzales) directed by Robert McKimson.
The title is a spoof on the company Abbey Rents, which specialized in home health care and party supply rentals.
Before the start of our feature presentation, the staff of The ACME Eagle Hand Soap Radio Hour would like to share with you a snippet of Margaret Cho's special, PsyCHO:
Margaret is always good for a laugh or two.
We've picked another entry from the excellent reference book, 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die by Steven Jay Schneider. Today's film is the 1970 mystery thriller, The Bird With The Crystal Plumage, directed by Dario Argento, and starring Tony Musante, Suzy Kendall, Enrico Maria Salerno, Eva Renzi, Umberto Raho and Mario Adorf. The film was Dario Argento's debut and launched Argento's career as a filmmaker. The Bird With The Crystal Plumage has been credited as a significant milestone in the popularization of the giallo genre - characterized as gruesome murder-mystery thrillers that combine the suspense elements of detective fiction with scenes of shocking horror, featuring excessive bloodletting, stylish camerawork, and often jarring musical arrangements. So push away from the table, get comfortable and join us in watching The Bird With The Crystal Plumage.
It has been alleged that Tony Musante - known for his intensity and preparedness as an actor - would frequently show up at Dario Argento's apartment at 3 am to discuss characterization, much to Argento's annoyance.
