ACME Eagle Hand Soap Radio Hour Today (370)

Thank you for joining us today

Before our feature presentation, ACME would like to start the evening with another Daffy Duck Merrie Melodies cartoon, the 1958 Don't Axe Me, (co-starring Elmer Fudd, and Barnyard Dawg) and directed by Robert McKimson.

This is the only time where Elmer Fudd is married; as all other cartoons depict Elmer (like other major characters) as a bachelor.

Before the start of our feature presentation, As you know, tomorrow the Academy Award Ceremonies are being held tomorrow, the staff of The ACME Eagle Hand Soap Radio Hour saw this video quiz and were all over it. Why not try it our -

So how did you do? There was a part one, which we posted here.

We've picked another entry from the excellent reference book, 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die by Steven Jay Schneider. Today's film is the 1967 crime thriller, Point Blank, directed by John Boorman and starring Lee Marvin, Angie Dickinson, Keenan Wynn, and Carroll O'Connor.. At the time, Point Blank was the moderate hit, earning just over $9 million on it initial release. The film is now widely regarded as cult classic. This fever-dream of a movie leaves you one one outstanding question - did what transpired actual happen or was it all the last thoughts of a dying man. It is for you to decide. So please join us here at The ACME Eagle Hand Soap Radio Hour and sit back, get comfortable and watch Point Blank.

This was the first film shot at Alcatraz, the infamous prison which had been shut since 1963, only three years before the production. Two weeks in the abandoned prison facility required the services of 125 crew members. MGM agreed to pay $2,000 per day ($16,400 in 2021) to rent the prison and to pay all expenses to re-establish power, water, and heat necessary for the production.
