ACME would like to wishes all of their friends and family a happy and healthy New Year!
Before our feature presentation, ACME would like to start the evening with another Daffy Duck Merrie Melodies cartoon, the 1957 Ducking the Devil, (co-starring Tazmanian Devil,) and directed by Robert McKimson.
Despite that Zookeeper Burton says that Taz becomes docile when exposed to music, Taz seems to not be affected by music that sounds unpleasant to his ears. In this case, Taz didn't like the sound of Scottish pipe music, so when Daffy played music with the Scottish pipe, Taz snatched it away from him and smashed it.
In celebration of the Lunar New Year, today's episode of The ACME Eagle Hand Soap Radio Hour wants to watch, with you, BMW's 14-minute mockumentary - Project Jupiter, which takes you on a journey through ancient customs and superstitions, all in the pursuit of good fortune.
In Chinese culture, "Ben Ming Nian" means the year when your zodiac animal aligns with the current Chinese Zodiac year. You might think this brings good luck, but in traditional Chinese belief, it's a year filled with challenges and problems in all parts of your life. However, traditional ways exist to protect yourself from bad luck and gain favour with the gods, even during your Ben Ming Nian.
Another facet of the Lunar New Year celebration, is about traditions. Here at ACME, we can think of no better way to continue with a tradition than watching this 1985 Jackie Chan comedy film, My Lucky Stars, directed by Sammo Hung, and starring Sammo Hung, Jackie Chan and Yuen Biao. My Lucky Stars is the second film in the Lucky Stars series, and a semi-sequel to Winners and Sinners. So push away from the table, get comfortable and enjoy the film.
During a break in filming in Japan, Jackie Chan was actually chased down by a mob of fans who recognized him. The mob almost caused Chan's death when one of them grabbed a hold of his scarf and nearly strangled him as he ran away.
