Without any further ado, our next theme of the evening - Gift giving is a true art (the true cost of Christmas)
OK kids, PNC bank has reported that there is a 5.7% increase in the price of the items needed for the 12 days of Christmas (compared to the 2019 per-pandemic prices). In the 38th year of their survey, PNC has found that the 12 items come out to a grand total of $41,205.58, a $2,211.99 increase from 2019. The cost of this year's CPI increase was driven by the cost increases for many of the exotic holiday fowl, wage increases for the Lords-a-Leaping, pipers piping and drummers drumming. (I did not know this but you do not get any bargains by purchases these item online; buying all 12 items from the comfort of your living room would cost you $45,599, ($4,394 more than in-store purchases.) an increase of .092% from the 2019s on-line total of $42,258.91.
These prices are, of course, just for one verse of the song. If you add up the total cost of all the items from the entire song (what PNC Wealth Management calls “The True Cost of Christmas”) it would surmount $179,454, a 0.95% increase from 2019!
