The first Oktoberfest began on this date as a festival celebrating the marriage of Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen and Prince Louis of Bavaria (later King Ludwig I) in Munich, Germany.

Paris Hilton was permanently banned from Oktoberfest in Munich in 2007, because in the previous year she showed up trying to hawk a canned wine without making an arrangements with any of the local authorities. I don't believe even any of the remaining Nazis still living in Munich have been banned.
